Why the Sources Differ
West Virginia release information is spread across agencies. Southwestern Regional Jail holds ordinary McDowell adult detainees, while the sheriff may hold arrest or transport records. WVDCR runs separate jail and prison searches. The courts hold bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, and revocation orders. Parole records run through the Parole Board and WVDCR Parole Services, and federal releases appear through BOP. We organize those distinct routes without treating one source as proof of every form of custody.
What We Publish
The material is arranged around the record a reader actually needs:
- The home page combines the named-person search path with the full release-record request process.
- Separate pages explain projected dates, VINELink alerts, and parole or probation.
- Facility pages match SWRJCF, Stevens, and FCI McDowell to the correct local, state, or federal locator.
- Records pages explain how to ask for a release event or booking photo without promising that protected material will be disclosed.
Limits of Our Role
We are privately run and have no connection to a West Virginia sheriff, jail, court, corrections department, parole office, or government agency.
- We cannot release, hold, or transfer a person.
- We cannot post bond, arrange a visit, or send funds.
- We cannot provide legal advice.
- We cannot guarantee that every contact, fee, or address remains current.
Only the responsible court or custody agency can confirm a charge, present custody, transfer, or release. We can identify the likely source, but the official record comes from that office.
